“With the storms this past winter we incurred some water damage to our home and knowing full well that mold grows quickly around here, we wanted to act fast in detecting any issues. We contacted the Mold Marhsal for some testing and luckily, our home doesn't have mold. The peace of mind is worth every penny."

Protecting your home
and health.

Radon testing requires more patience than most air quality tests. Doors and windows stay closed during the testing period, typically 2 to 7 days, and in some cases up to 90. This is to prevent outside air from skewing your results. The EPA's action threshold is 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). If your home tests above that, mitigation is worth a serious look. If it doesn't, you'll know that too. Our goal is to provide you with the clarity and confidence of the radon levels in your home.

upfront Answers,
To Common Questions

How does radon enter my home, and why is testing important?
+
Radon forms naturally when uranium in soil and rock breaks down. It seeps up through the ground and gets pulled into your home through foundation cracks, gaps around pipes, sump pits, and crawl spaces. Essentially anywhere air can move between the ground and your living space.

You can't see it, smell it, or detect it without a test and it's the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S.
When's the best time to conduct radon testing?
+
Any time is valid, but especially before buying a home, after foundation renovations, or after a mitigation system is installed. Winter tends to produce higher readings since homes are sealed tighter. Closed-home conditions give you the most accurate picture.
What's the difference between a DIY kit and hiring a professional?
+
DIY kits are EPA-recognized and fine for a basic screening. Because radon tests are conducted over a period of time,  there are certain protocols professionals follow that ensure accuracy. If you're just curious and testing for personal reasons, a DIY kit may be easy enough to do yourself. If your tests are being used for something bigger, like insurance claims or real estate transactions, working with a professional may be the smarter route.
When will I get my results, and what do they include?
+
Most results are back within 3-5 days of the test period ending. Your report includes your radon concentration in pCi/L, the testing conditions and methodology.
What radon level should I be concerned about?
+
The EPA's action threshold is 4 pCi/L. At or above that, mitigation is recommended. Between 2 and 4 pCi/L is worth monitoring. The average U.S. home sits around 1.3 pCi/L.
